Friday Reads 6/14/2024
Guess what? I actually have something to say here!
The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky - This is the last time you'll see this book on the Friday Reads post! This thing is scheduled to be wrapped up tomorrow! It's been a journey.
Simon Sort of Says by Erin Bow - I'm still getting through this a chapter a day when I'm at work. The characters are great, but the plot gives me anxiety. Something really bad happened to Simon a couple of years ago and he went viral online in the bad way. We don't know what the thing is, yet, and it stresses me out.
The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies by Alison Goodman - Doesn't this look great? Yeah, but for some reason, it's not grabbing me. I'm a third of the way through it and there is just too much drama. These twin sisters go around helping ladies out of dangerous situations. It's too much repeated mayhem for me. It's like reading short stories. I'm making myself read a chapter a day so I'll eventually get through it.
How to Read Now by Elaine Castillo - This one I'm really enjoying. I'm annotating and tabbing it as I go. This makes it take longer, but I get a lot out of it. She talks about reading, not just books, but people and situations and the world.
There you have it. That's what I'm reading this week. What's on your reading pile?
