July 2024 Goodreads Update
I was going to do one of these a couple of weeks ago, but I'd only added one book, so I didn't. I think there are a few more, now.
The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England by Brandon Sanderson - During Covid, when he wasn't running around supporting his books, Sanderson had extra time for writing. He ended up writing 4 extra stories he called "Secret Projects". He's been releasing them sporadically over the years. This is one of those books.
Ficciones by Jorge Luis Borges - Just because.
The Library of Babel by Jorge Luis Borges - I can't remember where I came across this. I think it might have been a Goodreads recommendation.
The Black Angels: The Untold Story of the Nurses Who Helped Cure Tuberculosis by Maria Smilios - I think I ran across this while I was hacking up a lung with Covid.
I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue - This is workplace humor. Jolene wants to go to work and go home, but her coworkers have no boundaries. She humors herself by writing scathing postscripts to her coworkers and then turning the text white so they can't see it. Of course she is found out and has to go to sensitivity training. When she accidentally gets access to all her coworkers emails, it is both a problem and a look into their worlds.
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center - This is a romance about two screen writers in LA. He's an established, popular author who has written a terrible rom-com. She is the up and coming writer brought in to re-write his script.
Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb - This is the third book in the farseer trilogy. I finished the second one earlier this month. I grabbed a copy of it at Nerd Night Friday night, so I'm ready to go when my brain is ready.
Don't Breathe a Word by Jordyn Taylor - One of my dance co-directors said this is great. It has a dual timeline set in present day and in 1962 at a tony boarding school. The Cold War climate plays a role and there is some shady shit going down and Hardwick Academy.
And there we have it. For two months in a row, I've read more books than I've added to my TBR. Go me!
