GR Update August 2024
Alrighty then. The end of the month is sneaking up on me. Luckily, I have not been terribly profligate in adding books to the TBR this month. There are only 7. Shall we?
Laundry Love: Finding Joy in a Common Chore by Patric Richardson and Karin Miller - I have been hearing about his book for some time now. I finally heard something about it that made me add it to the list. I don't remember now what that thing was, but nevertheless, here it is. It's a crisp 208 pages.
Voyage of the Damned by Frances White - I don't remember why this is here. I think it is because it's billed as a fantasy/mystery combo. Ganymedes is the only person aboard this ship in the middle of the ocean with no blessing (read: magical ability). When people start dying, he has to find the killer. At 464 pages, it's not light reading.
Never Saw Me Coming by Tanya Smith - I'm not going to type out that whole subtitle every time I post about this book. I just talked about it on Tuesday. It's 433 pages, but probably some of it is notes or author's note or something.
A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft - I talked about this one on Tuesday, also. Under 400 pages, woohoo!
Revenge of the Tipping Point: Overstories, Superspreaders, and the Rise of Social Engineering by Malcolm Gladwell - I loved The Tipping Point many years ago. I'm glad Gladwell is revisiting this topic. 368 pages
How to Change: The Science of Getting From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be by Katy Milkman - I heard about this on a podcast and thought I might give it a sniff. So many of these books spend the first half of the book hyping you up to why you need to listen to them and how much better your life will be when you do what they tell you in the last 10% of this book. If that happens, I'll drop this like a hot potato. Ain't nobody got time for that. At 272 pages, it's possible that she kept it brief.
An Academy for Liars by Alexis Henderson - This is another one I am thinking of reading for that book club I mentioned Tuesday. It is also 464 pages. Hope it reads fast.
Ok. That's everything I added to my list in August.
