Friday Reads 10/11/2024
A Dark and Drowning Tide by Allison Saft - I really need to get busy and finish this one. It is due back at the library on Wednesday and I'm only a quarter of the way through it. I will probably take it home this weekend and try to finish it. It is not from my shelves, but I can use it for the Booklist Queen challenge to read a fantasy book. It's YA so it reads pretty fast if I can just get a block of time to focus on it.
The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton - I've made it past where I stopped reading the last time, so that's good. I didn't remember much of what happened. Actually, all I really remembered was vibes. I still don't know who the dead guy is on the boat, but I have a guess.
I'm trying to decide if I should focus on this one to get it done faster, or if I should spread my attention out over several books so I don't go into a reading slump just reading this forever-long book. If I do pick up another book, it would have to not be something Victorian, or I will get the plots and characters mixed up.
Eat Only When You're Hungry by Lindsay Hunter - This is a current day novel about a guy who is addicted to food searching for his son who is addicted to drugs. Truly uplifting reading material.
The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny - This is the other option. Also current day, but it's a murder mystery.
I'm not making a decision yet. I will decide what I'm doing after I finish Dark and Drowning Tide.
