October Goodreads Wrap Up
Remember how last month I only added one book to my Goodreads TBR? Well, I made up for it this month. Hold on to your hats, this might be a bumpy ride.
The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves and China Mieville - I talked about this one in my library update last week. It might be more horror-y than I like, but I'll give it a shot.
Fang Fiction by Kate Stayman-London - This is about a fan of vampire novels who finds out her favorite one is real. She gets caught up in a lavish world to help save a vampire. Sounds ridiculous and fabulous.
Soft Skills for Dummies by Cindi Reiman - We talked about this last week also. Nothing new to add here.
Likeable Badass: How Women Get the Success They Deserve by Alison Fragale, Ph.D. - Talked about this one last week, too.
Swordcrossed by Freya Farske - Historical-ish romance. I don't know. I heard about it on a podcast that said it was light and fluffy and brilliant. We'll see.
True Facts That Sound Like Bullshit: World History by Shane Carley - This is another one I heard about on a podcast. This sounds great.
Julia by Sandra Newman - This is a retelling of 1984 from the girlfriend's perspective. I don't know who Sandra Newman is, but she must have balls of steel to retell Orwell.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst - Cozy fantasy. Look at the Gryphon kitty!
This Motherless Land by Nikki May - May is a Nigerian-British woman. She was raised in Nigeria until her mother died and she moved to England. The main character in this novel does the same thing, but much younger. It is inspired by Mansfield Park, so you know I had to add it to my list.
Everyone This Christmas Has a Secret by Benjamin Stevenson - This was on my library update. It's 192 pages, so officially a novella.
The Wood at Midwinter by Susanna Clarke - As of right now, I am a Susanna Clarke completist. I couldn't let that get away from me when this is 64 pages.
Animals Talking in All Caps: It's Just What It Sounds Like by Justin Valmassoi - I don't remember putting this on here, but I'm not mad about it. This looks great. Thanks, past Adrienne!
The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Survivng Midieval England by Brandon Sanderson - I bought this on my nerd night, so I figured I better add it to my official TBR.
Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout by Cal Newport - I heard this was good. It has a great cover. What else do I need?
Lonely Planet Hidden Libraries: The World's Most Unusual Book Despositories by DC Helmuth - I can't wait to get my hands on this book.
The Swifts: A Gallery of Rogues by Beth Lincoln - I don't usually like middle grade books, but I read the first book last year and thought it was delightful.
The Courage to Be Disliked: How to Free Yourself, Change Your Life and Achieve Real Happiness by Ichiro Kishmi and Fumitake Koga - I heard about this on a podcast. She said it's not for everyone and she didn't necessarily agree with all of their philosophy, but she recommended it with caution. So of course I had to add it.
Ok. I kept it brief so it didn't take nine years to write or to read.
Carry on!
