Friday Reads 11/15/2024
Friday is here again. Hooray! I'm not feeling very hooray today. Low energy. A touch of costochondritis. But I'm out here doing the thing. Let's talk about books. That always makes me feel better.
Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross - I really thought, since bells was canceled last night, that I would get to sit down and finish this. I'm 70% through it. Jokes on me. Bells was not canceled and I had to race off to that instead of reading. Most distressing. Anyway, maybe I can bring it to work with me tomorrow and work on it. I'm enjoying it. It's set in a world that looks a lot like 1940s England, except that the war is between two gods who have reawakened and have beef.
Bite Me by Christopher Moore - Remember how I said I'd like to re-read An Uncommon Reader for my re-read a favorite challenge? Yeah, I can't find it. I really need to clean out my library. I did find this one, though. It's the third in a series, but it doesn't matter. I've already read them all. This is the one with the peppy little goth teen that verbally trashes cops and runs around helping her vampire friends avoid vampire hunters. It's hilarious. Abby Normal (her moniker) has a favorite cuss word: fucksocks. I have a pair of fucksocks. Two pairs, actually. They are stripey and they say fucksocks around the top. Love those socks. The author worked with a sock company to make them. Reading this books will finish off my Booklist Queen's Reading Challenge. So at least one challenge will be finished this year. Sigh.
Eat Only When You're Hungry by Lindsay Hunter - Now we move on to trying to read a bunch of books from my shelves. This one is 212 pages, which hopefully will read quickly.
I am currently behind on reaching my Goodreads goal. It's the first time I've been behind the pace all year. It's difficult to see. Oh well. It's a truly arbitrary goal that I don't have to meet. No one will die.
So there are my current reading plans. How do yours look?
