Friday Reads 11/29/24

The calendar says it's Friday, so I guess it's time for Friday Reads. Not much of interest is happening on the reading front, but I'll tell you about it anyway.

Tomorrow is the last day of November. The chances of me finishing another book are slim at best, but here's what I'm working on.

The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton - I am back into this one after a looong break. Like maybe a month long break. I am not finding it ridiculously hard to remember what's happening. There are a ton of characters, but I'm keeping up pretty well. I made it past page 500 today. Only an entire book's worth left to go.

Government Information Essentials by Susanne Caro - I just freaked out because I realized I have no idea what day this is due back at the library. It's an interlibrary loan, so it won't automatically renew. Whew! It's not due until December 13. I feel pretty certain I can get it done by then. It's a bit dry (shocking!) but I'm getting through it. So far only the first chapter has been pursuant to my current situation. I have read about how to design space for a docs library, how to move things around in a docs library, and what chaos ensues from a natural disaster in a docs library. Next up is digital collections. After that we might get into actual doc librarian info. "Why don't you skip the chapters that are not for you?" you ask? Well, because I won't know that I don't need it until I read it. Confession: I do skim the useless bits.

So that's it for now. Tomorrow I'll post my December TBR, but right now, I have no idea what is on that list.

Happy reading!
