Friday Reads 12/27/2024
It's the last Friday Reads of 2024! This will probably come as no shock that I am not reading anything I put on my maybe list last week.
Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld - After I rearranged my entire TBR wall, I decided to grab something I though might be a quick read. I saw this and decided that was our winner. And it is being a winner. It is about a 38 year old woman who is a writer for a Saturday Night Live-style tv show. Her officemate (an ordinary-looking guy) recently became engaged to a gorgeous starlet who recently hosted the show. That makes the third regular guy on the show to snatch up a gorgeous starlet. She writes a sketch about how there is a law that hot guys never fall for the regular girl. It's always the other way. Meanwhile, she is falling for the hot guy hosting the show where this sketch was meant to air. I'm about halfway through it. It's light and fluffy, but not as ditzy as many romantic comedies tend to be.
I still need two more books to meet my Goodreads goal. I found these two lovelies on my shelves when I reorganized. Perfect!
Lore Olympus, Volumes 2 and 3 by Rachel Smythe - These are graphic novels so each one only takes a couple of hours to read. Perfect for end-of-the-year cramming. This is a graphic novel version of Greek myths updated for the 21st century. The art is the best part.
Since 2025 starts next week, and I recently put my hands on every single book on my shelves, I have lots of ideas about what I will read next. Maybe I'll start on my 10 oldest books list. Maybe I'll work on a genre shelf. Who knows!
Happy reading!
