January 2025 Goodreads Update

The length of my library update should be a good indicator of how much has been happening on my Goodreads account. I'm going to make an attempt to shorten this post but just listing the books I already talked about on my library update. Your welcome.

Oh dear. It looks as though I didn't post a Goodreads update in December. I think it was because I hadn't added anything. I made up for that this month.

Oh dear Oh dear! My November wrap up says I didn't have anything to wrap up. We're going back to the October Wrap Up. This is going to be ugly.

At the end of December, I had a cleaning spree. I reorganized all my to-read shelves. I put each category in order by how long the book has been on my TBR. In doing so, I found a bunch of books that were on my shelves, but not on my TBR. I added all those books back to my Goodreads list. I am just going to list them, because there are so many, and they may have made an appearance here before.

Maybe get a drink and a snack. This is going to be a lot.

The Stand by Stephen King;

Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

Hazardous Spirits by Anbara Salam - This one was free with purchase at BN one day.

The Haunting of Blackwood House by Darcy Coates - I inherited this one from my kid.

Wolfsong by TJ Klune - I bought this pretty recently. Not sure how it missed getting on the TBR.

New to the list:

Pride and Prejudice in Space by Alexis Lampley - This was a Christmas gift from my hubby. It has beautiful illustrations in it that go along with that cover.

Lore Olympus, Volume 3 by Rachel Smythe - I thought I owned this, but I didn't. Also, it wasn't even on my TBR, so I added it.

Reading Austen in America by Juliette Wells - Surely I don't have to explain why this is appealing to me. My library doesn't have it, so I may have to get creative with getting my hands on it.

Kittentits by Holly Wilson - I admit it. I was sucked in by the cover. It has an abysmal rating on Goodreads and the story sounds includes a cult and a bunch of kids with dead moms. I will not be paying money for this one.

Pride & Preston Lin by Christina Hwang Dudley - Pride and Prejudice but Asian and current day.

Everything is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green - As somebody with latent TB, I thought this might be worth looking into. Also, it's by John Green.

Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter - This was $5 with purchase at BN. I have heard it was great, so I picked it up.

The Scarlet Veil by Shelby Mahurin - I liked the first one in her last series. I never read the rest of it. Now I feel like it's too late, she's already got the first one in this series.

Story of a Murder: The Wives, the Mistress, and Dr. Crippen by Hallie Rubenhold - This is the author of The Five which was about the victims of Jack the Ripper.

Wish Upon a K-Star by Kat Cho - I really like Once Upon a K-Prom by this author.

Owning It: Tales From Our Disabled Childhoods - Jen Campbell is a booktuber I have watched for a long time. Kendra Winchester and I were on several online platforms together many years ago, and now she is a podcast host for Book Riot.

My Friends by Fredrik Backman - This looks like it will be good for a cry.

The Love Haters by Katherine Center - I liked The Bodyguard. Not all of her books seem like they would be for me, but this one might.

Nobody In Particular by Sophie Gonzales - I love Sophie Gonzales' books. Well, the last one was kind of a bust for me, but I'm willing to give her another shot, since there were so many wins before that.

The King's Ransom by Janet Evanovich - This is the second in the Gabriela Rose series. It's been a few years since the first one appeared. I'm ready.

Double Whammy by Carl Hiaasen - I've read a couple of books in this series, but I feel like it's time to start at the beginning.

Entwined: Essays on Polyamory and Creating Home by Alex Alberto - I know at least one person that is in a polyamorous relationship. Someone else I know rated this book highly, so I figured I'd add it to the list.

The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand - I heard about this on a podcast. Usually Hilderbrand's books don't appeal to me, but this one has a ghost.

The Devil Behind the Badge: The Horrifying Twelve Days of the Border Patrol Serial Killer by Rick Jervis - This is like the Juarez killings of the 90s and 00s, except on the other side of the Rio Grande.

Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer - This is the first one in the series. I have the second one on hold at the library. I should probably try to read this before that one comes in, huh?

And that (finally) wraps it up! If you have questions about anything you see here, feel free to ask. I might not know the answer, but I'll be happy to talk about my lack of knowledge.
