Library Update February 2025

Well that snuck up on me. It's the 25th! Of February! There are only 3 more days in the month! Let's see what is happening with my library account.

I don't currently have anything checked out, so we'll move on to my hold list:

Carving Shadows Into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer - So I had the first book in this series on hold, and then I realized that there was only one copy in the system and it was long overdue. I canceled my hold and bought the book. I'm not even mad because it's gorgeous. I'm number 3 on the list, and they're buying 2 copies. It will be a minute.

Don't Sleep With the Dead by Nghi Vo - This is the companion to The Chosen and the Beautiful which was a retelling of The Great Gatsby. I'm third in line and they are ordering 3 copies, but it isn't published until April.

Every Tom, Dick, & Harry by Elinor Lipman - Many years ago, I heard Elinor Lipman described as a modern Jane Austen. I don't know about that, but I did enjoy some of her books. This one looks fun. This one is already circulating. There are 10 copies, and I'm fourth in line.

The Queens of Crime by Marie Benedict - I'm really looking forward to this one about all the female mystery authors. It is also circulating, and I'm 7th of 10.

Wicked Darlings by Jordyn Taylor - I made a mistake. When I was trying to cancel my hold for the Brigid Kemmerer book, I accidentally canceled this one, instead. I put it back on hold, but I went from second in line to 7th. 😦

The Millicent Quibb School of Etiquette for Young Ladies of Mad Science by Kate McKinnon - I don't normally care for middle grade books, but for Kate McKinnon, I'll give it a go. I am number 7 out of 6 copies.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst - My spell checker doesn't care for the spelling of this title. I'm number 8 in line on 5 copies.

Easy Weeknight Dinners by Emily Weinstein - We'll see how easy they really are, but not until the 8 people ahead of me get to check it out.

Half Baked Harvest: Quick and Cozy by Tieghan Gerard - I'm down for quick and cozy. I wonder if I'll see it before cozy season is over. I'm number 11 out of 13 copies.

When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi - Oh John Scalzi. This looks ridiculous. It comes out in May and I am twelfth on ten copies.

Emily Wilde's Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett - Third in the series. Apparently the library has ordered 3 copies. I am 13th on the list.

The Paris Express by Emma Donoghue - Excited for this one. This time we're getting 14 copies. I'm number 13, but when we get it, I'll get one of the first ones!

The Kennedy Girl by Julia Bryan Thomas - We have 11 copies and I'm 17th in line. Le sigh.

Lonely Planet: Hidden Libraries by DC Helmuth - Do you see the fine print at the bottom that says Forward by Nancy Pearl? Yeah. Squee? Why do we not have our copies yet!? I'm number 22 on 9 copies we haven't got.

The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner - I like The Lost Apothecary, so I'll give this a sniff. Not anytime soon, though. It comes out in April. I am 24th on 6 copies.

The Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens - This one is currently in circulation with its 7 copies. I'm 25th.

Kills Well With Others by Deanna Raybourn - Loved the first one. We're getting 8 copies. I'm number 33.

The JDK Conspiracy: The Secret Plot to Kill Kennedy - and Why It Failed by Brad Meltzer and Josh Mensch - Not THAT assassination, obviously. 10 copies. I'm number 34.

Southern Living Annual Recipes 2024 - We actually have 24 copies of this. I'm still number 34.

The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis - I keep collecting Fiona Davis books, even though I haven't read one, yet. 56th in line on 21 copies. Guess I'd better start with one I own.

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry - I've read all her other ones. Might as well read this one, too. We are getting 24 copies. I'm number 99. Here's hoping I can find a Quick Pick copy somewhere.

I've also ordered a couple of Government Librarian books from ILL, but I don't have pictures of those, and can't even remember their names. Just know that they exist.

I guess not much has changed since last month. All the sighs.
