Library Update April 2025

The end of the month is upon us! That means it's time for wrap ups. Here is what is happening on my library account.

Checked Out

Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens - This showed up yesterday afternoon. This is a thriller about a mild-mannered librarian whose violent past in Bosnia catches up to her. I love a badass librarian.

On Hold

Wicked Darlings by Jordyn Taylor - This is a YA thriller, but past that, I forget what it's about. I'm only keeping it on the list because I like Jordyn Taylor, and this cover is amazing. I'm second on the list so it's probably coming soon.

Carving Shadows Into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer - This is the sequel to a book I have, but haven't read. I'm third on the list, but the library hasn't got it's copies yet, so I'm not too fussed about it.

Don't Sleep With the Dead by Nghi Vo - This is a sequel of sorts to the Beautiful and the Damned that was so fantastic. Once again, the library hasn't got their copies so I'm not worried that it will come in soon, even though I'm third on the wait list.

Secrets of Adulthood: Simple Truths for our Complex Lives by Gretchen Rubin - I love Gretchen Rubin's self-help books. They don't read like they're trying to sell you something. There's no "this super-easy program will change your life and you will be the best human ever" talk. All her advice is "this worked for me, let me tell you how I did it." I'm 5th in line for this one. I might see it in the next few weeks.

The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis - This is a historical novel that has something to do with Ancient Egyptian artifacts. I'm number 11.

Kills Well With Others by Deanna Raybourn - The sequel to Killers of a Certain Age, which I loved. I'm 12th on this list.

Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green - I am interested in this for reasons. Everything I've heard about it has been positive. I have an audiobook copy of it, but I feel like I would get more from it by reading it with my eyeballs. I am 19th for this one.

Lonely Planet Hidden Libraries by DC Helmuth - And still we wait. I'm number 22.

The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner - This is another one I keep on the list for the cover. It is stunning. I'm number 24, but it's still on order.

2024 Annual Recipes by Southern Living - By the time I get this, I may not care anymore. It's still on order. I'm on the list at number 45.

And there you have it. Some books that are nearly ready and a bunch that have no end in sight to the wait time.
