Friday Reads 5/2/25
First Friday in May! Today's weather is spectacular. We've had flooding rains off and on for the last week and more are due tomorrow, but today it is sunny and 72 degrees. That's just about perfect.
As for reading. Weeeeelllll. We are not at that point in the year where I get more reading time. Rather the opposite. On Sunday, I will be spending approximately 10 hours driving to OKC, setting up the bells, ringing a bell concert, taking down the bells, and driving home. I may have to start an audiobook just to get any reading done at all. Monday I hope to sleep in a little, but I have a nail appointment at noon, an appointment with my mom's new tax guy at 2:00 and a dentist appointment at 3:30. Luckily, I do not have bells Monday night, so I will have a little down time. I have no idea when I'm going to get the laundry done.
On the off chance that I do get reading time, here's what is up.

Avid Reader by Robert Gottlieb - This book is maybe not what I expected. But I am still plowing through it like I have any idea what he's talking about. I guess I love the Mad Men era setting (but in publishing, not advertising.) Finishing this is my first priority.

Bibliotherapy: Books to Guide You Through Every Chapter of Life by Molly Masters - Yeeeeaaaahhhh. I put this on my May TBR and then went down to the second floor and got it off the shelf. I've read the intro and the first chapter. I'm enjoying it and it reads pretty quickly. I do love a book about books. What I did the other day was read a chapter of this and then go on to Avid Reader. Once I finish the other, I will focus on this one.

The Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens - Once I get back to work, I will go back to reading this one at lunch. It's very good. I love a historical fiction set in a time I actually remember. If I haven't finished it by next weekend, I will take it home to finish it before it is due.

Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel - Once I finish the librarian one, I'll return to this for work lunches. There's no hurry. No due date. No deadline. It's the sort of book you have to read slowly. I'm sure I will eventually feel like I need to take it home to concentrate on it better. That's fine. No worries.
That seems like a lot for one post, but it's just what I'm currently working on here and there. At Whim, if you will.
