Friday Reads 5/9/2025

Normally on a Friday, I would be looking forward to some down time coming up on the weekend. Not this week. Sunday, my dancers dance in service. Then I have to high tail it downtown to go to work until 5:00. Sunday is also Mothers' Day so there might be shenanigans afoot in the evening. Monday, I get to sleep in a little bit before my 11:00 therapy appointment, but I have to be in Ponca City at like, 3:00 on Monday to play our last bell concert of the season. I guess I'll be getting home at around 10:00 pm again.

The good news is, that's the end of my chaos season. I have one more church bell rehearsal and then a performance on May 25, but that seems really tame after the last month.

I might get some reading in on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Maybe Monday morning? I'm not counting on it. So this list of currently reading will not hold any surprises.

Avid Reader by Robert Gottlieb - I swear I only have 30 pages left of this book. One good reading stretch would finish it off. Unfortunately, I don't have time for a good reading stretch. I'm just crossing my fingers at this point.

The Quiet Librarian by Allen Eskens - This is due on Wednesday and I'm only half way through it. I took it home to work on it after I finish the Gottlieb. I don't know when that's going to happen, but at least it is in the house to be available.

Bibliotherapy: Books to Guide You Through Every Chapter of Life by Molly Masters - This one will renew on Wednesday, so I can focus on the Librarian book first. I am looking forward to flying through this.

The Stolen Queen by Fiona Davis - Since I took The Quiet Librarian home, this is now my lunchtime reading. I read 30 pages of it today. So far, so good.

You'll notice, I didn't mention the Hilary Mantel book. That one is just sitting patiently by, waiting for me to get through these library holds.

Wish me luck getting some reading time!
