Friday Reads 5-16-2025

It's Friday! Time to talk about books. Who am I kidding? It's always time to talk books.

I'm very excited about having more time to read this weekend than I have had in recent weeks. I have a bell rehearsal Sunday evening followed by a dance hangout. But I have all day until then to do chores and read. On Monday, I have a nail appointment and I need to get an oil change. Otherwise, it's wide open. I can read during the oil change, too. Whee!

So what am I reading? Let's discuss.

Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green - I decided this is not a book to read at lunch, since tuberculosis frequently includes vomiting blood. So I'm reading it at home. It's not very big, but I have to read a little at a time and cut it with something less disturbing.

The World Between Two Covers: Reading the Globe by Ann Morgan - This is the something less disturbing. In 2012, the author decided to spend the year reading a book from every country in the world. The first chapter is about how she came to the decision to do this project. Chapter two is about how she figures out how many countries there are, since Google says there are 196, but there are over 200 flags flown around the word, so how do you make that work? It's a pretty good read so far.

Secrets of Adulthood: Simple Truths for our Complex Lives by Gretchen Rubin - I am trying to make this my lunchtime reading, but I haven't had much reading time at lunch this week. My lunch partner has been chatty. It will probably end up coming home with me next weekend.

So there you have it. My reading plans for the week. What do you have planned?
