Friday Reads 5/23/2025

We have arrived at Memorial Day weekend. For most people this is a relaxing three day weekend. I get two days and I have THINGS scheduled both days. My bell choir is ringing in church Sunday morning. Dance rehearsal Sunday evening. And apparently neither my therapist nor my hairstylist take Memorial Day off, because I have both of those appointments on Monday. I do get Wednesday off to make up for it, and I have nothing scheduled for Wednesday. I'm sure someone will find something for me to do, but I'm hoping to do some serious reading. I'm behind on my goal and I have library books with due dates!

The World Between Two Covers: Reading the Globe by Ann Morgan - I'm almost 2/3 through this one now. I am determined to finish it this weekend. I've been focusing on it pretty singularly this week.

Kills Well With Others by Deanna Raybourn - This came in at the library this week, but I haven't had a chance to start it because of all the other books that came in before it. I'm hoping it reads as quickly as the first one. That was a lot of fun.

Don't Sleep With the Dead by Nghi Vo - Look what else came in this week! I'm telling you, it's the law of libraries in action. I am going to start this one at lunch tomorrow. It will be my lunchtime book since it's only 100 pages.

Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood by Danny Trejo - I'm sure you were wondering what happened to this book. It's been very patiently waiting for me to get through all the books with holds on them that had firm due dates. This one is due today, but it will renew since no one is waiting for it. After I finish the Raybourn book, I'll have this for my at home reading.

I'm only one book behind on my goal of reading 80 books this year, but I'm waaaay behind on reading 40 of my own books. Like 5 or 6 books behind. I am hereby vowing not to put any more books on hold at the library until I catch up on that goal. When the ones I currently have on hold come in, that's fine, but I won't add any more. Right, then.

What's on your list for the week?
