Friday Reads 7/4/25

Happy Independence Day!! I am writing this on July 3, so that I can hopefully spend all day tomorrow reading!

No big surprises on what I'm reading.

The Regional Office Is Under Attack by Manuel Gonzales - I am really hoping to be able to finish this this weekend. I'm only a quarter through it, now, but I feel like some focused reading time would help me make good progress. At a quarter through, I'm not really sure what is going on. I can't tell who is under attack and who is doing the attacking, or why. But it's entertaining, so I'm hoping that works itself out.

Such Charming Liars by Karen M. McManus - I am leaving work before lunch to go to a doctor's appointment, but I forgot to bring a book for the wait. I'll probably take this one and try to get some read on it. I am getting more invested in it as we go. The story is about rich people behaving badly, but the 2 main characters are neither rich, nor behaving badly. They are quite likeable really.

The Amalfi Curse by Sarah Penner - I just read the summary for this one. I was wondering how Penner was going to do her trademark dual timeline. Present day: a nautical archaeologist goes to Positano to research sunken ships and look for gems. 1800s: The women of Positano have learned how to harness the power of the ocean, but when some pirates find out, they try to use their power for evil. Sounds like fun. It's not very long. Looks like a good time.

So there you have it. Reading plans for the weekend.
