Reading In/Out July 15, 2025

I actually did a little reading this weekend, even though I was trying to get ready for a trip.

The Country of Ice Cream Star by Sandra Newman - I am beginning to get used to the dialect this is written in. It's a French/English/truncation mashup. The story is really good so far. I'm about 150 pages in. It's not a fun time, being a post-apocalyptic survival story, but it's good.

The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan - In the interest of not soaking my brain entirely in depressing, future America stories, I started this one. It is on my 10-oldest books list and it's on the contemporaries shelf. It is told from the perspective of an American girl who is recounting her love story the night before she is set to marry the Crown Prince of England. It's a not very subtle reimagining of the Kate and William story. It's well-written and easy to read, so I could do worse.

Neither of these books are going with me on vacation, so you won't hear about them for a hot minute. I still haven't nailed down what I AM taking with me so, I guess we'll both be surprised.
