Goodreads Update August 2025
Welp, I am way behind on my posting. I forgot to add my posts to my planner, so I forgot to post them.

Anyway, I will probably skip the library update this month because honestly, there's nothing go on over there anyway.
But I did add some books to my Goodreads list, so I will share those.

What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller - I love this author. I read one of her books on my vacation. The only problem is, she writes faster than I can read. But can we talk about how stunning this cover is?

People Like Us by Jason Mott - I haven't read the last book he bought, even though I own it. But I intend to like it, so I pre-emptively put this book on my list. If I end up hating the first one, I'll take it off. This list isn't written in stone.

Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy by Mary Roach - Mary Roach is hilarious. I have read most of her books. This one is coming out soon. It's about the parts of the human body that can be replaced. I am rocking a titanium knee, so this is a topic I am interested in.

The Tragedy of True Crime: Four Guilty Men and the Stories That Define Us by John J. Lennon - This book is full of Adrienne catnip. It's about criminals, written by a criminal, from jail. I will eat this up with a spoon. All of the men in this book are guilty of murder, including the author. It's about their attempts to be more than murderers.

Paper Girl: A Memoir of Home and Family in a Fractured America by Beth Macy - I really like Macy's Dopesick. It's hard, but fascinating and so well written. Now she's talking about her own life. She grew up in Urbana, Ohio. I'm not sure that counts as the rust belt, but it's definitely close.

Brigands & Breadknives by Travis Baldree - The first book in this series is Legends and Lattes. It's great. That book brought on the popularity of the "cozy fantasy" genre. He published them himself first, and then they got picked up by a traditional publisher and took off. This is the sequel to the first book. There was a prequel, which I have also read.

Empire of the Dawn by Jay Kristoff - This is the third book. I may have already pre-ordered it from Barnes and Noble.

Vagabond: A Memoir by Tim Curry - Excuse me. Tim Curry? Yes please.

Girl Warrior: A Coming of Age Handbook by Joy Harjo - I don't really like poetry, but I try to keep up with what Harjo is doing.

Enshittification: Why Everything Suddenly Got Worse and What to Do About It by Cory Doctorow - I've read a few books by Doctorow, and I saw him speak at a library conference. He's well above my head, but I keep trying.

Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - I read the first one and like it so much, I bought the second one (psst, I haven't read it yet.) Now the third one is coming out. I'm not ready!
And now we're all caught up! Hooray.
