Goodreads Update August 2025

I knew I was busy this month, but I only realized how busy when I looked at my TBR. I only added 3 books. I was too busy to nose around in book websites and find more things to add.

Dinner at the Night Library by Hika Harada - The night library is only open from 7:00 pm to midnight. The thing about this library is that you can't check out the books. They are just on display for your enjoyment. Otoha is the newest employee, and like the others, she has been burned in so me way by the publishing industry. Bad stuff starts to happen and the employees have to make some tough decisions. That's all I know. Very Japanese. This is expected to publish next week. I think we're close enough to the date to think it might actually happen.

Fifteen Wild Decembers by Karen Powell - This is a fictional biography of the life of Emily Bronte. I'm not sure where the fifteen Decembers of the title comes from. Guess I'll have to read to find out. It is being published by Europa which generally does fantastic books. I found this in the New York Times Book Review. I came out in April. It originally came out in England in 2023 and is just now making its way across the pond.

Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers by Caroline Fraser - This book posits the theory that there were so many serial killers in the Pacific Northwest in the 70s and 80s because there were toxic ore smelters in the area that triggered psychotic behavior. Interesting. I put it on the list. This is another NYTBR find and it came out in June.

And that's all folks. Just the three books.
