October 2025 TBR

October! I love October. I am hoping for some nice Autumn weather soon. After being below the average temp all summer, we are now above average. Gr. Anyway, let's talk about books.

The shelf assigned to October is mystery, obviously. It just makes sense. It IS spooky season, and I don't really read horror, so mysteries feels like a good option.

Faithful Place by Tana French - I loved the first two books in this series. This book is a mystery AND it is on my 10 Oldest Books list. The series is set in Dublin and features the fictional Dublin Murder Squad. Each book features a different member of the team. I'm pretty stoked about this one.

Fatal Remedies by Tana French - I feel like I should work on some series from my mystery shelf. This is the 8th book in the series. I haven't really been reading them in order, but I have read the first 7 books.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much by Spencer Quinn - The fourth book in the Chet and Bernie series. I love Chet. He's such a dog. He gets side-tracked by interesting smells, and he doesn't always understand his human, but he's really smart and funny.

The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz - The last thing I need to do is start another series, but here we are. This is a thriller about a professor who has a student with a fantastic novel idea. He anticipates that debut novel being a big deal. Only it never comes. He finds out that the student died, so he decides to write the book himself. And it is a hit. But someone knows he stole it and he is getting threatening messages.

Bullet Train by Kotaro Isaka - This one has been calling to me. I want to see the movie, but I won't until after I've read the book. It's supposed to be thrilling and hilarious.

Dark Sacred Night by Michael Connelly - I liked the first book in this series following a female cop in L.A. This is number 2 in the series.

IQ by Joe Ide - I have had this on my shelf for a long time. IQ is a super smart guy who lives in a super sketchy neighborhood. He solves the crimes the LAPD won't touch and the cold cases they've left behind.

Of course I am planning to finish the books I'm reading now. And I will probably add a few audiobooks to the list. I finished one this weekend, but I'm waiting for the October Advanced Listening Copies to release October 1. I'll choose one of those to listen to next.

What are your October reading plans?
