Friday Reads on Saturday 11/1/2025
I was trying to figure out why I didn't post my Friday Reads yesterday, and then I remembered that I went from one youth program to another yesterday. In the morning we spent 2 hours at Immanuel Lutheran Academy teaching highschoolers how to access the library databases. And at 1:00 we had 78 8th graders trickling through the computer lab to learn how to use one database. By 2:15 when the last 8th grader left, I had no brain left. I was so tired on the drive home I had to get off the highway and take a nap. I was exhausted.
Anyway, here we are with this week's Friday reads.

Empire of the Dawn by Jay Kristoff - I haven't stopped listening to this, even though the paper copy is currently in the mail. It is supposed to be here Tuesday. I am 82% through this on audio, but I feel confident I will not be able to finish it before the paper gets here. I'll finish however much is left when it comes. I will most likely finish this one Wednesday. Finally.

The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See - This is for Friday's book club meeting, so I will be finishing this this week as well. I'm half way through it now. I had sectioned it out so I would know how much I needed to read each day to finish it on time, but then I missed a day or two. I'm back on track now. Woo hoo!

Cat + Gamer, Volume 8 by Wataru Nadatani - This came in yesterday. I will most likely finish this before I finish anything else. It's a quick, fun read.

The Invention of Charlotte Bronte: A New Life by Graham Watson - Finally I can get back into this one! Hooray! Also, I just noticed that the one I put on my post the other day, is incorrect. This is the actual book I am reading. Oy.

Brigands and Breadknives by Travis Baldree - I will start this as soon as I switch to paper for the Vampire book. Completely different vibe.
I have big expectations for this week. I plan to actually finish 3 books! It won't catch me up to my reading goal, but it will go a fair piece towards it.
