Friday Reads 3/6/26
This week has been... fraught. Let's say that. I took a personal day today, and I'm not feeling guilty about it.
Honestly, not much has changed here, but let's discuss.

The Last Bookaneer by Matthew Pearl - I'm still not halfway through this one yet. It's not that it's not good. I'm just not prioritizing reading right now, which is very weird and perhaps indicative of the state of my life. Currently our intrepid bookaneer is in Samoa, hanging out with Robert Louis Stevenson and trying to get his new manuscript.

Payback in Death by J.D. Robb - This is really good. The retired head of Internal Affairs at the police department was murdered in his house and it was meant to look like a suicide. No one thinks it was a suicide and Dallas is looking at all the officers he investigated who then committed suicide the same way. There are a lot of bad cops in his history, which is pretty demoralizing to the detectives working this case.

The Windsor Knot by S.J. Bennett - Book club is in one week, so I need to get one this ASAP. I know I've already read it, but I don't remember enough about it to discuss it. The bookaneer may have to go on a back burner until I get this one finished.
There you have it. My reading plans.
I took today off, so hopefully I can get some reading time in around napping and lounging. I have an all day bell festival tomorrow from 8-5, so no reading there, but I opted not to go play boardgames afterwards, which will leave me some reading time. Again, hopefully. Sunday is wide open up until bell and dance rehearsals. I do have chores to do, but they won't take the whole day. Famous last words. Monday is jam packed. I have a morning nail appointment, then a 3-4 hour hair appointment (blue hair is time-consuming to maintain), then TFR rehearsal in the evening. Maybe I can squeeze in a little bit.
What are you reading?
