Reading In/Out
Howdy. It's Tuesday and I must be really on the ball to get this post up on time. I don't feel on the ball. I feel like I'm inside the ball rolling downhill.

Anyway. Books.
OUT

The Windsor Knot by S.J. Bennett - This was the book club book for March and a re-read for me. I definitely didn't remember anything about it, but I love the portrayal of the Queen, here. She is so highly aware of her position and influence, she can say things to people to make them think they thought of it, and get the job done. Meanwhile, she remains the figurehead who "doesn't really understand the world."

Encore in Death by J.D. Robb - I finished this one on Sunday between Mass and work. I really didn't like the main characters here. The best one of the was murdered in the prologue. Everyone else were Broadway actors. So, you know, over-dramatic and obnoxious. I was glad when this one ended.
IN

The Last Bookaneer by Matthew Pearl - I'm finally back to this one. I managed to get to the 2/3 point. I'm determined to finish it this week, except that I forgot to bring it to work today, so I didn't get any reading done during lunch. It feels very much like Sherlock Holmes, if Sherlock was into stealing manuscripts and Watson was not against it, but also not really doing it. It's entertaining, at least.

Desperation in Death by J.D. Robb - This one is already better than the last one. We have a 13 year old girl found impaled on a plank of wood and left in Battery Park. Many things about her are not adding up to the botched mugging it was clearly supposed to look like. Turns out, she was reported missing 8 months before when she didn't come home after soccer practice. Dallas begins to suspect a trafficing situation. Another missing girl's blood was found on the body, which leads detectives to believe she also escaped and the powers that be tried to incriminate her. It's very good, and pretty difficult.
And there we have it. Happy St. Patrick's Day.
