April TBR

It is once again time for the monthly setting of grossly overly-ambitious reading goals for the month. Hooray!

The Girls of Atomic City by Denise Kiernan - Our first order of business is to wrap up things left over from March. This one will definitely be hanging around. It is one of the 10 oldest books on my TBR, so it is in my interest to keep after it. It's not bad, but it's slow because we have to visit each of approximately 16 women at each stage of development.

Three Bags Full by Leonie Swan - The movie is coming in May and I must be prepared. Translated from the German! Here I was thinking this was from Scotland!

Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - This is the second book in the Assistant to the Villain series. My hubby gave me the third one for no reason a couple of weeks ago, so I need to catch up. It's a fun series about a woman who takes a job working The Villain and ends up straightening out his whole system to run smoothly and efficiently. It's pretty ridiculous. More ridiculous that sheep solving a mystery? Maybe.

Man, this is hard! How do I limit it? I mean, a TBR is just a menu, not a to-do list, but I could put all of my 441 books on here, if that's the case.

The House of Twenty Thousand Books by Sash Abramsky - I lingered in front of my shelves until something jumped off, and this is the one. This is about the author's grandfather who left Belarus for England as a young man. He and his wife ran a Jewish bookshop in London for many years and drew the most respected thinkers of the day to the gatherings in his home.

The Fell of Dark by Caleb Roehrig - I just could not decide what to read next, so I went to the suggestion section of The Storygraph app. This was the top book on the list, so this is it. This is a YA goofy story about a regular guy who just happens to live in a town situated in the middle of a bunch of mystical energy fields, which means the town is rife with paranormal critters. A new vampire shows up with news that an "ancient and terrible power" is coming to town, and only our main character can stop it.

So that's it. Kind of a wild list.
