Reading In/Out 4/28/2026
The amount of time it took me to figure out today's date, even though I've already written or typed it several times, is embarrassing. My malfunction was caused by the fact that it can't possibly already be the 28th, right? I had to think about the fact that I rang our first concert last night and that was scheduled for the 27th. What comes after that? I believe this is an accurate indicator of how my brain is doing. I just spent 3.5 hours locked in to a project at work and now I'm a bit dazed. Talking about books ought to help!
OUT

Vendetta in Death by J.D. Robb - I finished this one yesterday as I pulled up to my first appointment of the day. This was about a woman who was drugging, kidnapping, torturing, castrating, and murdering men who had either abused and betrayed their wives, or used had raped women not their wives. This included her own ex-husband who had left her for a younger woman and was now cheating on that woman with hired "licensed companions" (read prostitutes). She knew these men had done these things because she heard about them from a support group for abused women. Usually, Robb stops at just 2 serial murders and a third in progress, but this one actually had 3.
IN

The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin - As predicted, I didn't have a lot of time to read with my eyeballs this weekend. I did manage to get in a few pages each day, though. Even small progress is progress. I am within 100 pages of finishing this one. I have recently come across a twist that really had me flipping back to see if I read something wrong. Nope. That said what I thought it said.

Connections in Death by J.D. Robb - I am still waiting for my audio copy of the second book in the series, so I started number 48. This is interesting to me specifically because it is about gangs. Not mafia gangs. Street gangs. I listed to 27% of it yesterday on my way to our concert in Cleveland and back.
Here's to finishing The Fifth Season by the end of the month!
