Friday Reads 5/29/2026

This won't be very surprising, but we'll do it anyway.

The Accidental Law Librarian by Anthony Aycock - I get through a little bit more of this each day I work. I didn't work today because my dog is in the hospital. I thought I would need to be available for bringing her home. It's 3:30 pm now, and she's still there. Tomorrow I will definitely get more done.

London Falling by Patrick Radden Keefe - I really do think I will finish this over the weekend. It might be Monday, but that is also my weekend. Also, I already wrote it on my June spread in my reading journal, so it would be best if it did last til Monday.

The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas - I started the second story in this one today, but I got distracted after like 5 pages. It's still moving forward. And I like it so far. I don't do well with short stories, really, so it's good that I am like it.

Life After Death by Damien Echols - This guy is really fascinating. Aside from the fact that he spent 17 years in prison for something he didn't do, Damien Echols is not his birth name. Echols is his step-dad's last name. His dad left the family and then kind of disappeared altogether. His step-father adopted him and his sister as children. Then, as a teenager, he converted to Catholicism and chose Damien as his name. So here we are. I'm only about a quarter through this, but it's an easy read when I can get more than 5 minutes together.

So that's what I'm concentrating on this weekend. Assuming I can concentrate at all with a sick dog.
