Friday Reads 6/5/2026
I just posted a TBR for the month of June, and things have already gone haywire. But only a little.

The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas - I finished the third story yesterday. Two stories left. Surely I can plow through them this weekend.

Life After Death by Damien Echols - After I finish the short stories, I'll focus on this. I might be able to finish both of them this weekend. Kind of depends on how many naps I decide to take.

The Accidental Law Librarian by Anthony Aycock - I recently saw that this author has a new book coming out about a book-banning trial. That's pretty cool.

Literature in Our Lives by Richard Jacobs - I am fighting for my life to keep up with what this guy is talking about. Occasionally, I'll catch something. It's one of those things, like when I was in college lit classes, and I'd be thinking, I'm not sure that's really what the author meant by that, but OK. I doubt this one gets finished this weekend. It's pretty slow going.

Exhalation by Ted Chiang - I completely forgot I had requested this at the library until it showed up. I didn't realize it was a collection of short stories, but whatever. I'll give it a shot. I don't really care for short stories because I have to recommit to the book every time a new story starts. I have to get used to new characters and settings. It's a lot.
So there we have it. I have a dinner date Saturday evening, but I'm usually home by 7:00 after that. On Sunday, I have dance in the evening. Monday, I have an appointment at 11:00 and a lunch date at 12:30. There are large pockets of free time in there, but sometimes my free time gets commandeered by other people's activities. We will see.
