July TBR

June can't possible be ending next week! Where did it go! I've never known the calendar to lie, so here are some reading plans for next month.

Arcadia by Iain Pears - Ok, first, we'll start with my 10 oldest books list. Hopefully, I can finish the June book at some point, and I can start this in July. I have enjoyed Iain Pears' books in the past. Those were pretty much straight historical fiction set during the Spanish Inquisition. This is set during the Cold War and is apparently, fantasy and science fition and historicial fiction all folled into one. I think it follows two or three different people. I only have one nonfiction book left on this list, and I want to save that for later. In 6 months, I've finished 5 of these 10 books. I'm right on schedule to finish all 10 this year. And I'm a good quarter of the way through the sixth.

Fatal Remedies by Donna Leon - Moving on to working on my ongoing series. This is next one on my list for this series. It's number 9 in the sequence. It doesn't matter what it's about. It's going to be fantastic.

Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah S. Dawson and Keven Hearne - Now I need to work on some books for the r/Fantasy Bingo challenge. This one is for the prompt to Judge a Book By Its Title. This is a parody of The Princess Bride. I read some graphic novels by Dawson and enjoyed this. It promises to be a good time.

Shady Hollow by Juneau Black - This one is for the prompt to Read a book with a Non-Human Protagonist. This is a fantasy mystery peopled entirely by forest creatures. This is also for the r/Fantasy Bingo. I should probably be clear. r/Fantasy references the Reddit account about Fantasy books. Actually, it also includes science fiction and horror. Basically any kind of speculative fiction. As it happens, the Bookish Bingo challenge also has a prompt for a non-human protagonist. Sweet!

Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy - And now for the Bookish Bingo challenge. This one is to Read a Classic Novel. I have a shef full of them. I picked this one. It's been a hot minute since I read Thomas Hardy.

Past this, I have no idea. I have read in 12 books in June. There are only 5 days left, so barring some crisis, I won't be starting any more. I didn't add the books I'm reading now that will carry over into July, so that adds 2 more books to this list. Maybe three if I don't finish my audiobook in the next 5 days.

Most of the books I finished in June were on the June TBR, but I didn't get anywhere close to reading the whole list. Which is fine. It's a menu, not an assignment. There were 12 books on that list and I finished 6 of them, and started a seventh.

I'm playing it safe this month. July is not busy for me, necessarily, but I am working and taking care of a family. Somehow that fills up lot of time. How did I have time to do dance and bells on top of all this? I don't know. Anyway, I will most likely find something else on my shelves that I must get to immediately. Until then, Happy Reading!
