Reading In/Out 8/4/26
I did actually get some reading done this weekend! Even though I was an absolute slug on Monday. I took 2 Flexeril on Sunday night. I slept great. I also slept for 11 hours. It took a couple more hours for my brain to wake up.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss - I finally did it! I woke up at 4:45 Sunday morning with a stomachache. I picked up this book and read the final 60 pages. It didn't end on a cliffhanger, but it did. This book had 700 pages. The next one has almost 1000. I will not be picking that one up in a hurry. I don't need to know that bad. I used this one for the r/Fantasy Bingo prompt of a Ranger. This guy definitely travels around going on adventures. I also used it for HRCYED as one of my DND Characters, the Wizard, and also for the I'll Get Around To It prompt. This book has been on my shelf for 10 years. I'd say that counts.
Immortal Game by Allison Saft - I listened to the last 5 minutes of this yesterday while I was bed-rotting. I was right about the sister not wanting to leave fairyland. The ending was exciting, I will say that. It was really intense. Everybody always felt everything so intensely. I mean, they were all teenagers, so that tracks. It was just difficult to watch. Like CALM DOWN. This one took care of the Book Bingo prompt to read a book with an LGBTQ+ protagonist. For the r/Fantasy challenge, it filled the prompt to read a books with a game. I feel like Chess counts. For HYCRED I put it on the Pokemon prompt as a fairy type.

The Last Contract of Isako by Fonda Lee - This is the book that got the most attention this weekend. I'm almost to the halfway mark. It's very good. Lot's of action and adventure. Our girl, Isako, has a sidekick now. He's lots of fun.
Who Is Government? by Michael Lewis - I'm at least halfway through this one now. I don't get a lot read each day, but every little bit counts. I think I'm going to use this for my HRCYED prompt to read an anthology and then read a book from 6 of the authors who contributed. It turns out I already have a book by Casey Cep on my shelves! And I know I like Sarah Vowell and Geraldine Brooks. Dave Eggers, too.
The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Holton - This has been languishing while I caught up on my other reads. It might even sit there until I finish Isako. It depends on if I need a brain break.
I'm not listening to an audiobook right now while I try to find a song for the girls to dance to this fall. Once I figure that out, I'll find something. Right now, I'm just focusing on Government and Isako. I might be able to finish them both before next Tuesday. Wouldn't that be grand!
