Friday Reads 9/4/2026

So, remember before when I said we haven't been to an emergency room in a couple of weeks? About that. We are currently at 2 days since an emergency room trip. It was unnecessarily dramatic and my family made me call an ambulance. I had to ride on a gurney through the whole first floor of the library. Would have loved to avoid that.

Stupid ambulance rides aside, I did read over 100 pages of a book. The book. The only one I'm reading right now.

The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye - This one is still giving The Night Circus vibes. Except in this book, the first exhibition of magic was meant to murder one of the enchanters. It didn't work. So now she gets the chance to return the favor. Like I said, I've read about 112 pages. That's just over a quarter of the book. Considering that I got no reading time Tuesday or Wednesday, that's not too bad.

Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - In the unlikely event that I finish The Crown's Game, I will pick this one up. It already has a bookmark in it, ready to go. I'm kind of going back and forth between silly books and serious books. I'm not sure how serious The Crown's Game can be considered, since it's YA fantasy, but this one is definitely silly.

We moved Game Time to Monday this weekend, so I'll have time to read tomorrow night. Hopefully, I can read some on Sunday. Monday afternoon is Game Time, but we have to be done by 6:00 because our friends have other plans. I'm attempting to finagle taking Tuesday off next week for my husband's birthday. That would mean even more reading time. If I can't take off on Tuesday, I'll be off on Wednesday, so I guess it all comes out in the wash.
