Friday Reads 9/11/2026

I am so far behind, I'm going to meet myself coming in as I'm going out. I am at a point where I'm happy if the very important things get done. Everything else can wait. Clearly, Friday Reads is a Very Important Thing, because this is me doing it.

There will be no surprises here. Nothing has changed. Well, that may not be true. Let's explore.

Apprentice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer - I am 99% sure I have made no new progress in this one since Wednesday. I am equally certain that no more new progress will be made before Sunday. Tonight after work is phone-talkie night. Tomorrow after work is Board Game night. So, if I can squeeze it in around Sunday chores, maybe then, but definitely between bell rehearsal and dance rehearsal. Monday I have a doctor's appointment, so there will be reading time. Monday night is the first bell rehearsal of the season for Tulsa Festival Ringers. And that's my weekend sorted.

This Other Eden by Paul Harding - In the unlikely event that I finish the above, I will start this one. I have 5 books on my TBR, and I am toggling back and forth between light, silly books and more serious ones. Apprentice is a silly book. This one is more serious. It won a Pulitzer, for God's sake. Also, it's only 224 pages. Probably still take a week to get through, all things considered.

So there are my reading plans for the foreseeable future.

I still owe you an August wrap-up, and I need to finish my Goodreads TBR list. We are quickly sneaking up on the month's-end posts again, and I haven't finished the last ones!
