Friday Reads 9/25/2026

It's the last Friday of September. Our high today is 86 degrees. Tulsans do not know how to act with this beautiful weather! It's predicted that we will get rain this weekend, making it perfect reading weather. Tomorrow is also a full mean, which means weird things are happening at the library, but that's to be expected. You will never convince me that the full moon doesn't affect a certain section of the population.

Anyway, I am hoping to get good reading time this weekend. Here's the reading plan.

Humble Pi: When Math Goes Wrong in the Real World by Matt Parker - I'm almost 25% through this one. I will probably get a little bit more read tomorrow at lunch.

Between Chapters by Zibby Owens - I kind of hate this book. I plan to finish it today, but I'm basically hate-reading it at this point. I removed her other books from my TBR. It's really that bad.

A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones - I'm having a good time with this one. I am 1/3 of the way through this one. I had a whole hour of reading time the other evening and kind of blazed through it. I'm enjoying it. It's pretty busy. There is a lot going on, but the characters are great.

Blockers: Rebels in the Deep State by Michael Lewis - I think this is directly related to the book I read recently called "Who is Government" by Lewis. This is about 6 people in Trump's second term that were called "blockers" because they didn't talk the talk that was currently in vogue, and were pushed out, regardless of how important their jobs were. I will start this after I finish the Between Chapters audiobook. This is less than 300 pages, so it won't take too long to listen to.

If I manage to finish A Bad Day for Sunshine, I will have to make a decision. It's almost time for the October TBR post, so I will have to decide if I want to read something from that, or not. If so, I will have to decide what will be on that list.

I don't have game night Saturday night. The bells are ringing in church Sunday morning, so I will probably take a fat nap in the afternoon. Sunday evening is our last dance rehearsal before performance. Only one girl came last week, so we had a reading party instead of dancing. We desperately need everyone there tomorrow for a long rehearsal. On Monday, I have an appointment at 11:00 and then nothing until TFR rehearsal at 6:30. Hopefully I can sit with my book and not fall asleep, but we'll see.
