October TBR

Can I just link to my Goodreads Want-to-Read list and call it done? What, you don't think I could conceivably read 908 books in October? Fine, probably not. Also, please note that I have done a major culling of my GR list. I removed around 90 books. That's pretty wild.

After much consideration, I have narrowed my list to these six books:

The State of Sequoyah: Indigenous Soverignty and the Quest for an Indian State by Donald L. Fixico - Yes, this one again. But I have to read it this month, because I'm leading a book discussion on it on the 16th. It's only 200 pages. It'll be fine. Luckily, this will fit a HRCYED prompt to read 5 books from various states (not NY or CA). This is an Oklahoma book.

Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky - My copy of this came in at the library. It's another 200 page book. Yay! This one will work for the HRCYED prompt to read a book with your birth tree on it. My birth tree is Elder, and it says Elder in big letters right there. It could also work for the prompt to read 5 books with different weather on the cover. This could be either fog or clouds. I'm hoping it will work for one of the r/Fantasy Bingo prompts I still have left.

Circe by Madeline Miller - The Goodreads page for this says it's 400 pages. It doesn't look that big on the shelf. Maybe it has super-thin pages, or something. Anyway, this fulfills the r/Fantasy Bingo prompt to read a book with a one-word title. And for HRCYED, it works for the Regions of the World prompt. I will put it in the Mediterranean. It is set in Greece.

The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett - This one I fully believe is 400 pages. I will use this one to fulfill the r/Fantasy Bingo prompt to read a book from the r/Fantasy Book Club's list of past reads. Also, it works for the HRCYED Shiritori prompt. For this prompt, you read a book that's title starts with the last letter of the book before it. The first book was Shady Hollow and the second book was Who is Government? So this book starts with T. And it doesn't even matter if you don't count "the" because the next word also starts with T.

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig - For the r/Fantasy Bingo I need to read 2 books in a duology. They don't have to be from the same duology, but I actually own both books in this one, so I hope it's good. This is the first one. It also works for HRCYED's prompt to read a book related to the meaning of your name. Adrienne means "dark" in Greek, so here we are. Right there in the title. It also works for the prompt where you read books with numbers in the title. These are amazingly difficult to find. This is my first one.

The Badass Librarians of Timbuktu and Their Race to Save the World's Most Precious Manuscripts by Joshua Hammer - This is on my 10 Oldest Books list. Also, I can put it in the HRCYED regions challenge for Africa. Also also, It works in the HRCYED mashup challenge because it is set in a country not the US, UK, Can, or Australia. It isn't fantasy, sci-fi, or horror, so it doesn't work for r/Fantasy Bingo, but you can't win them all.

I am concentrating on the r/Fantasy Bingo challenge because that one finishes first. Plus, so far, most of the books I'm reading for that challenge, have fit prompts in the HRCYED challenge. HRCYED doesn't end until July, but it also requires 75 books to finish. That's a lot of books.
