Friday Reads on Saturday 10/10/2026

Yesterday was a wash, so here I am on Saturday. I don't expect I'll have a lot of reading time this weekend, but here's what is on the docket.

Humble Pi by Matt Parker - I am going to work on this at lunch today. I expect I can get through about 20 pages. I have made it to the halfway mark, actually. Woo hoo!

As You Wake, Break the Shell by Becky Chambers - I'm officially 55% of the way through this, and I'm still trying to work it what it's about. It may be that it's just a sci-fi romance. So far that's what we've got. It's about two women on another planet in the distant future who fall in love. The planet is real messed up. One of them if the pilot of a rorquil, which is like a giant flying blob, and she has brain bleed. The other woman is a botanist of sorts, who is trying to create medicine to treat her, which is highly illegal. But mostly, it seems to be about their relationship.

The Bad-ass Librarians of Timbuktu by Joshua Hammer - This is on my list of 10 Oldest Books. I've read about 30 pages, and so far, I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about Mali and Timbuktu in particular.

Circe by Madeline Miller - I am pretty much just going down my TBR list, and reading what's next. I just realized I didn't really put any spooky or witchy books on my October TBR. No big deal. I don't really read based on the seasons anyway. I've read 2 chapters. Circe is still a kid. We are still setting the stage.

I have game night tonight, so no reading time past what I get done at lunch today. Tomorrow, I have a lunch date with my college friends. I have a little chore time in the afternoon, but then it's bells and dance for the evening. Monday, I have therapy, then straight to the hair wizard for a re-up on my blue hair. I will probably need a nap after that (it's a lot of people-ing) and then there is bell rehearsal. And just like that, the weekend is over.
